About "The Secret" and JOINING MIRACLES: Navigating thre Seas of Latent Possibility

THE SECRET, originally a video available online or as a DVD,
more recently as a book, is turning out to be one of those
phenomena that sweep the globe.

You may not have seen it or read the book, but if you're
unaware of THE SECRET, then better check with your friends---
you may have been in a coma these past few months!

THE SECRET--- as of this writing--- was featured on Oprah! two
weeks running, and has recently gotten major stories on Today,
Newsweek, New York Times, USA Today, and even The Wall
Street Journal. (And those are only the mentions that pop into
mind at the moment.)

This website is about a different book---JOINING MIRACLES:
Navigating the Seas of Latent Possibility. Which raises the
question, How does JOINING MIRACLES: Navigating the Seas
of Latent Possibility relate to---and differ from---THE SECRET?

First off, and I want to make this very clear, JOINING MIRACLES
was written long before Rhonda Byrne's THE SECRET came into
being, as the result of some life challenges in 2004. I guess I
work too slowly: JOINING MIRACLES (and the companion book,
THE GRAIL CONSPIRACIES, a spiritual thriller) got started from
a trip I took to London and La Rochelle in 1990.

The core message of THE SECRET, as summarized recently in
an on-line article: "If you want something, you can get it through
force of will, determination, and positive thinking.” (I've misplaced
the reference, but suspect it was in the Washington Post).
Others who have commented on The Secret refer to
affirmations, positive thinking, and "The Law of Attraction" as at
the core.)

JOINING MIRACLES, by contrast, suggests that positive thinking
is only a small part of greater secret. Rather, the real question
is why "force of will, determination, and positive thinking,” or
"affirmations" or what's termed The Law of Attraction could have
any impact on what appears to be objective, impersonal reality,
seemingly beyond our personal control.

Put differently, if "The Secret of The Secret” is determination
and positive thinking, then how can whatever you or I think
change the scenario of events we face in life?

JOINING MIRACLES suggests the answer, which lies in the
interplay between hidden, forgotten, or unrecognized powers
within the human mind and the deeper reality hidden behind the
facade of the ordinary material reality we seem to encounter.
